New Original Work for Sale
This painting measures 24” x 48” and is an oil painting on wood panel. The piece is the most recently completed work by Robert Meulemans and it is inspired by history and politics, as many of his other works are. Robert chose this John F. Kennedy quote because it inspired him and has a definite relation to current social, political, and economic situations. The artist wanted to experiment with combining landscape, figure painting, and typography. Kennedy is a primary subject for Robert as the Kennedy’s are Massachusetts natives like the artist, and they rose to positions of power and prestige through hard work and against many social obstacles such as discrimination against Catholics and the Irish. The quote reads as follows:
"Ask of us here the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds."
-JFK Inaugural Address
"Fairy and Jewelweed"
This 8" x 16" watercolor painting was inspired by the artist's current illustration project "Fairy Slippers" by author Cara Peckham.
"Portrait of Jim Morrison"
This 18"x24" digital painting is the artist's second ever piece painted with a Wacom tablet. Robert is re-visiting some of the themes from his early work as practice for this new and exiting medium.
